Benefit recital planned

PRINCETON — A benefit organ recital for victims of Hurricane Harvey will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at St. John Lutheran Church. John Linker will be the featured performer.

There is no admission charge but donations at the door will go to help hurricane victims through Lutheran Disaster Response. A portion also goes to send youth to the Lutheran Gathering in Houston, Texas, next summer. The youth will be deployed for one day of service during the Gathering.

Linker is director of music for Christchurch Transitional Cathedral and Christchurch City Choir, New Zealand. He is the first American to ever hold either post. A gifted organist, choir director, music educator and choral composer, he got his start in Princeton. He is a son of Bill and (the late) Betty Linker. He, his wife Molly, and daughter Lila currently live in New Zealand.

St. John Lutheran is located at 15199 2825 East St., just off Route 6 in rural Princeton. For more information, call 815-875-2313.
