TISKILWA — The Wright family is inviting the community to “come on down” for a walking tour of modern agriculture in action on their farmstead, seven miles south of Tiskilwa, on Sunday, Oct. 8.

To accommodate October’s early sunsets, the event will begin at 4 p.m. At that time, the Wrights will offer an up-close-and-personal look at technological innovations as well as traditional chores on their centennial farm. The event promises to be an ideal family outing for an autumn afternoon.

Following on the heels of September’s well-attended presentation on barn quilts, the society continues to honor Bureau County’s agricultural heritage. Historical society board members will provide carpools, and anyone wanting to hitch a ride should be at Tiskilwa’s Museum on Main before 3:30 p.m. For those driving on their own, set the GPS for 4415 1725 East Street, Bradford.

Rain or shine, participants will be able to witness a short demonstration of harvesting, feeding time and other activities. Chad Colby may even be on hand to demonstrate the use of his drone in modern farming.

When the tour concludes, the Wright family is inviting all visitors to stay for a picnic supper in the machine building.
