Schedule: Oct. 7 - Match 1: (10) Serena (3-12-2) vs. (8) Normal Calvary Christian Academy (7-6-2), 10 a.m. Oct. 10 - Match 2: (1) Princeton vs. winner 1, 4:30 p.m. Oct. 11 - Match 3: (4) Somonauk vs. (6) Newark-Seneca (7-8-4), 4:30 p.m. Oct. 13 - Title: winners 2-3, 4:30 p.m.

BCR Insider: The Tigers are the defending regional champions and have beaten both teams (Newark 3-2, Somonauk 5-1) they have faced in the regional field. They will have a target on their backs as the team to beat. “We are excited about the playoffs. The matches are more meaningful, and we feel like were up for the challenge. We have worked very hard this season to prepare ourselves. We always hope to play our best during the playoffs. If we do we will be a difficult opponent. We also understand that you can not take anything for granted, if we play poorly, we can be knocked out and our season will be over. That will be difficult for us because we have a lot of seniors. I want our last day of the season to be as long away as possible,” PHS coach David Gray said. PHS senior Brett Schenck said he tries to keep his thoughts pretty simple and “take every team very seriously and do whatever it is I need to do to win.” He doesn’t care about being the defending champs, because “it’s a new year, and only what we do next will matter. Overall just stay locked in and win the game at hand.” ... The Tigers have ties against DePue (0-0) and HBR (3-3) who are in the sectional complex out of the Hinckley Regional ... Regional favorites in the Mendota sub-sectional A are Monmouth-Roseville (14-3-3) and Macomb (11-8), which plays out of the Peoria Christian Regional, the sectional semifinal match for the Serena champion.

Next: Winner advances to the Mendota Sectional to face the Peoria Christian Regional winner at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18.

At Hinckley (1A)

Team to beat: Earlville-Leland.

Schedule: Oct. 7 - Match 1: (9) DePue (4-4-5) vs. (7) Indian Creek (6-13-1). Oct. 10 - Match 2: (2) Earlville-Leland vs. winner 1, 4:30 p.m. Oct. 11 - Match 3: (3) Mendota (11-8-1) vs. (5) HBR, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 - Title: winners 2-3, 6 p.m.

BCR Insider: Mendota is playing to make it home for sectionals. DePue’s crowning moment this year was playing top seed Princeton to a tie.

Next: Winner advances to the Mendota Sectional to face the Rock Island Regional winner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18.
