Special person cares for Red Covered Bridge

To the editor:

It is time for a little ounce of gratitude.

When was the last time you took a ride through the Red Covered Bridge? For me and my neighbors, it can be several times a day. For others, it may be once a month, once a year or just on special occasions.

Well, here is the story behind the Red Covered Bridge site being well groomed over the past few years. One man has a particular passion for this site, and over the past few years has dedicated himself to voluntarily mow and groom it.

I watch him over the spring, summer and fall months faithfully show up every Thursday to groom the site by mowing, trimming, spraying weeds and picking up debris. He has dedicated his time and expense to do this.

He would say to you, “I do it because I want to and also, I enjoy it.” He did say it is amazing how big of an attraction the Red Covered Bridge is. It is unbelievable the visitors who come to see it, photograph it, and celebrate special events at it like weddings.

This man deserves a big thank you for stepping up and volunteering to do this. This man is Dr. Dennis Farrell. Thanks, Doc, you are a special friend to me and to the community.

Now you know another story behind the Red Covered Bridge.
