BRADFORD — The 2017 Christmas Walk in the village of Bradford will be Saturday, Dec. 2.
The evening’s activities will begin at Elsie Hodges Park. Santa Claus will arrive at the park for the Lighting of the Park at 5 p.m. There will be Christmas caroling at the park and then all present are invited to walk and sing carols on their way to the First Baptist Church where there will be prizes, food, raffles, gifts and more.
Upon arrival at the church, participants in the Christmas Walk will be able to purchase a barbecue or hot dog meal complete with dessert and drink for $4 ($1 more for extra sandwich). They can also visit the seven different vendors and buy chances on the many raffle baskets and items to win. Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or six tickets for $5.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. and throughout the evening, the children will be able to visit with Santa and receive a treat from him. The Bradford Betas will be offering free pictures with Santa. At the same time there will be free face painting for both children and adults. In addition, the OSA Queens will provide free “Kraft for Kids” activities from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to sign up for the “Gift Give Away” which will take place at 7:30 p.m. that evening. The gifts fit into five different age categories. You must be present to win. The basket raffle drawing will follow the “Gift Give Away.”
There will also be the annual “Bradford’s Holiday Home of the Year” award of $100 for the best decorated house. Judging will take place prior to the Christmas Walk events on Thursday, Nov. 30.
The village of Bradford has hosted the Christmas Walk for many years and wants to bring this event back to its former importance as a holiday event that brings our community together.
