ARLINGTON — Realia M. “Cookie” Brizgis, 92, of rural Arlington died the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.
Realia was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Ladd to Peter and Emma (Pozzi) DeBernardi. She married Edward J. Brizgis on Feb. 7, 1948, in St. Benedict’s Church in Ladd.
She worked at Westclox and then Ladd Elevator. She enjoyed camping, traveling and wintering in Fort Myers, Fla. She was a member of the Red Hatter’s.
Realia is survived by her nephew, James (Marsha) DeBernardi of Ottawa; three nieces, Aimee (Joe) Twardowski Sr. of Mark, Audrie (Tadd) Lundquist of LaMoille and Arlene (Kurt) Peterson of Roanoke; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on June 19, 2003; and two brothers, James and Peter Debernardi.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in Holy Trinity Church in Cherry with the Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be in the Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Pallbearers will be Jack Donna, Kevin Merkel, Kurt Peterson, Tadd Lundquist, Joe Twardowski Sr., Colton Peterson, Austin and Wyatt Lundquist, and Joey and Tommy Twardowski.
