PERU — The Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development (IVAC) will hold its Business Breakfast Seminar at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Mario’s Maples in Peru. The focus of the seminar will be “401(k) Compliance Issues.”
Do not wait for an audit from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to solve your plan’s operational problems. Sponsors should regularly conduct self-reviews of their plan’s operations to fix — and, even better, prevent — problems, sources say.
Many plan sponsors who have inadvertently made mistakes in their 401(k) plans, just never had anyone show them how to correctly administer a 401(k), or they have so much on their plate that something inevitably falls through the cracks.
Steve Witek of LPL Financial will speak on the importance of retirement planning, employer-sponsored retirement plan options, Department of Labor fiduciary rule update, 401(k) plan compliance issues, 2017 review and 2018 a look ahead.
Registration for the seminar is $16 for members and $18 for non-members. A hot breakfast buffet will be provided at 7:15 a.m. Reservations must be made by calling 223-0227 no later than noon on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The breakfast is open to the public.
