For years, many people have come to enjoy the Shadows of the Blue and Gray living history event held at City County Park in Princeton each October. This past year the event was hit hard by heavy weather, which forced us, for safety reasons, to cancel the event. Which in turn hit us very hard money wise.
We have tried for several years now to freshen up on schedule and lineup of things to present to the public, and we hope we have grown to be able to do that. This past year, we included a “school day” for the eighth-grade class of Princeton’s Logan Junior High and Putnam County Junior High schools. We also gave out free tickets to all students in the Princeton Elementary School District 115.
Now we are at a crossroads and need to ask for a little help. We are asking for donations to help pay a few bills that would have been covered had we been able to stay open to the public.
One of the ways you can donate is to buy a drawdown ticket for our fundraiser event scheduled March 10 at the Princeton Elks Lodge.
Tickets can be purchased for $40 for a chance to win $1,500 in cash prizes. Tickets are available by sending your check to Shadows of the Blue and Gray, P.O. Box 285, LaMoille, IL 61330.
The Princeton Civil War Committee/Shadows of the Blue and Gray could really use your help. We want to maintain the quality of this living history event and continue to bring you people and information about a very pivotal time in our nation’s history.
We want to have more “school days” and offer a chance for everyone to see and hear history not just from a book but close up so you can ask questions and learn.
Thank you for interest in the past, and we hope we can count on you for your interest and help now and in the future.
