BJ Fredenhagen

TISKILWA — Berta Jean "BJ" Fredenhagen, 89, of Tiskilwa passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at Liberty Village in Princeton.

BJ was born June 14, 1928, in Princeton, the daughter of Albert and Imogene (Sarver) Lee. She resided in Tiskilwa all her life. She married David C. Fredenhagen Aug. 5, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2013.

She was a 1946 graduate of Tiskilwa High School and a 1949 graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in business education. She was a teacher in the Tiskilwa school district for 27 years. Over the years she taught physical education and business education at Tiskilwa High School and fourth grade and physical education at Tiskilwa Grade School.

She was a member of the Tiskilwa Methodist Church, the P.E.O. sisterhood Chapter IH, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Illinois Education Association, the National Education Association and the Bureau County Retired Teachers Association.

She loved spending time with her family and her special cat. Hosting parties at their home and socializing with friends were favorite activities of BJ and her husband Dave. They also enjoyed several memorable trips during their retirement years.

She is survived by her three children, Charles (Jane) Fredenhagen of Tiskilwa, Roger Fredenhagen of Champaign and Judy (Bill) Kramer of Waynesville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Adam Fredenhagen of Tiskilwa and Laura Fredenhagen of Las Cruces, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her brother, Charles E. Lee; and her parents.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, March 16, in the chapel of Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home in Princeton. Private interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Bloom Cemetery in Tiskilwa. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Tiskilwa Ambulance Service or the Tiskilwa Historical Society.
