SPRING VALLEY — The matching fund campaign started by Spring Valley City Bank to assist the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library in Spring Valley with the purchase and installation of an 11 KW Generator has reached its goal.

Numerous patrons, residents and business owners contributed during the month-long campaign, but some special donors stepped up to complete the goal.

Businessmen Steve Olson of CMS Plumbing and Vince Gatza of Gatza Electric agreed to work together on the project while donating their labor, which lowered the originally estimated cost. Secondly, the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation - Heartland Bank and Trust Community Support Fund contributed $500, which was the final amount needed for the project. Any additional funds received will be dedicated to the library’s book budget.

“I am sincerely impressed by the community spirit of the Spring Valley City Bank to provide the matching $2,000 for this project which then inspired all of the generous benefactors who have shown their support to us,” said board member Debb Ladgenski. “The generator will help protect the many assets of the library and its holdings for years to come.”
