Bike-to-Work Week through Friday

PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital and the Princeton Chamber of Commerce are challenging their communities to dig their bicycles out of the garage or shed to celebrate National Bike-to-Work Week, which continues through Friday of this week.

Bike-to-Work Week is a nationwide event meant to encourage more people to ride their bicycles and reinforce the benefits of exercise and healthier lifestyles.

Bicyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. Perry and the Princeton Chamber ask that anyone participating, take a selfie and share it on either the Perry Memorial Hospital or Chamber’s Facebook pages.

All selfies entered between May 14-18 will be entered into a drawing to win three months free at Anytime Fitness in Princeton, a $50 Chamber of Commerce gift certificate, or a wine gift basket. Photos must be posted before midnight on May 19.

National Bike-to-Work Day, organized by the League of American Bicyclists, was first celebrated in 1956. Health benefits of regular bicycling include increased and improved cardiovascular fitness, decreased fat levels, improved mood, reduced anxiety and increased muscle strength.
