Meeting Minutes

LADD — The Ladd Village Board conducted the following business in May:

• Passed a resolution recognizing Tanner Dominy for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

• Accepted a $1,000 grant for the War Memorial Park Improvement Fund from the Illinois State VFW.

• Heard Noreen Griffin announce a Pick-3 fundraiser she has planned to benefit the War Memorial Park Improvement Fund. The $9,000 winner will be determined by the Sunday, Sept. 9, mid-day Lotto drawing. Ten tickets with triple digits will each win $100. Ticket holders will be served a noon chicken lunch at Softails Bar & Grill on drawing day. $100 tickets are available in the village clerk’s office and at Softails.

• Heard a sign to track the progress of the Park Improvement Fund would be erected in the park.

• Awarded the Iowa and Locust Street Sewer Replacement Project to Illinois Valley Excavating for a total bid of $59,870.

• Purchased a new Vector Cannon mosquito sprayer from BioControls Inc. for the quoted price of $7,500.

• Heard utility man, David Fiocchi, had resigned, effective May 18.

• Hired two employees at $10 per hour for summer help in the street department.

• Approved a $50 donation to the Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living.

• Approved a $2,125 addendum from Northern Illinois Seamless Roofing for 13 dome strainer covers on the Ladd Community Center roof.

• Accepted a proposal of $34,737 from Electric Pump for a new pump at the waste water treatment plant.

• Agreed to use approximately $10,000 in IMEA Electric Efficiency Program funds to convert additional residential street lighting to LED.

• Passed a resolution authorizing the purchase of a new utility vehicle for the police department.

• Heard the recent electronic recycling event ended after 30 minutes when the two dumpsters were filled.

• Approved a request from the Ladd American Legion to hold a Poppy Day fundraiser.

• Accepted a renewal from Blue Cross/Blue Shield for health insurance coverage for non-union employees.

• Entered executive session to discuss the union contract.

• Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $240,700.55.

• Approved meeting minutes, the treasurer’s report and the police department’s activity report.

The Ladd Village Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, in the village hall.
