Walter Langan

NOKOMIS, Fla. — Walter F. Langan, 74, of Nokomis, Fla., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at his home after a long, hard battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 14, 1943, in Rockville Centre, N.Y., to John M Langan and Anne (Mulhall) Langan. He married Kathryn (O’Pray) Langan on Oct. 24, 1965.

He lived in New York until 1992, when he and his wife moved to Bureau County, where he was active in the community, becoming involved with Bureau County 4-H, Bureau County Extension and the Homestead Festival. Due to his illness, he and his wife moved to Florida in 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathryn; his children, Patricia (Peter) Bassey and John (Kylie) Langan; four grandchildren, Patrick (Meagan) Langan, Kathryn Bassey, Kevin Bassey and Connor Langan; one great-grandson, Hunter Langan; and a brother, Michael (Alice) Langan. He was waiting the arrival of a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Per his request, there was no visitation or funeral.
