Final program announced in summer gardening series

The summer series of the Four Seasons Gardening program from University of Illinois Extension concludes with a session titled “At-Home Micropropagation: In Vitro Plants.”

Micropropagation is a form of growing plants using tissue culture in sealed containers. This method allows for new plants to be grown using cuttings down to a number of cells. Learn from Extension Horticulture Educator, Bruce Black, about micropropagation and how you can do this at home using common household items.

This program will be offered via a live webinar at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the following University of Illinois Extension Offices: Bureau County in Princeton; Marshall-Putnam Counties in Henry; and LaSalle County in Ottawa. Call the appropriate county office to register at least two days in advance. This webinar may also be viewed from wherever you have Internet access at on either Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 1:30 p.m. or Thursday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m. by pre-registering at go.illinois.edu/4seasons_webinars. Recorded videos of these sessions can be viewed following the program at go.illinois.edu/fourseasonsrecordings. This is the final session of the summer series.

Each session is free to the public. Advance registration is needed. Phone or email the LaSalle County University of Illinois Extension office for more details at 815-433-0707, or you may email Extension Program Coordinator Meg Overocker at meo@illinois.edu.
