John was born on Feb. 11, 1953, in St. Louis, Mo., to Harry and Judy (Graves) Gibson. He married the late Susie Gibson in 1978.

He was a graduate of Springfield SE High School and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Navy. John served his country in the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1976. John moved to Princeton in 2012, enjoying his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, especially 60’s and 70’s rock and roll, as well as jazz music. He was a huge Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed seeing the Cubs finally win the World Series.

John is survived by two sisters, Vicky (Dan) Hebel of Princeton and Judy Cassiday of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Daniel (Jody) Gibson of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Judy Gibson; and his wife, Susie Gibson.
