Eleanor Litherland

HENNEPIN — Eleanor J. Litherland, 93, of Hennepin passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Liberty Village in Princeton.

Eleanor was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Hennepin to Roland and Charlotte (Nash) Hamm. She married Robert H. Litherland on Feb. 7, 1948, at the Hennepin United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Hennepin High School. Eleanor worked at Sampsel's factory in Spring Valley and General Telephone Company in Hennepin. Eleanor was owner operator of Litherland Grain from 1968 to 2002, she was known as the "Grain Lady". She also helped with the family farm.

Eleanor was a member of the Hennepin United Methodist Church, W.A.P. Class, the Rebekah's and the Putnam County Historical Society.

She loved oil painting and pencil painting, and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene (Linda) Litherland of Hennepin and Lyle (Vicki) Litherland of Sheffield; one daughter, Virginia Terando of Hennepin; five grandchildren, Robert (Teresa) Terando, Ryan (Sheri) Litherland, Rebecca (Tom) Wiesbrock, Tiffany (Kyle) Johnson and Brittany (Brett) Longeville; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Clausen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert, who died Jan. 7, 1976.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville with the Rev. Joshua Wiggs and the Rev. Brian Caughlan officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hennepin Fire Department or Putnam County Historical Society.
