Optimist Club selling fruit

Money raised will fund events for local youths

PRINCETON — The Princeton Optimist Club is selling Texas Sugar Sweet navel oranges and grapefruit as their major fundraiser of the year.

Money raised from the sale of the fruit will be used for projects that center on the youths of Bureau County, including the Halloween costume parade, the pumpkin races, the Easter egg hunt and other events. The cost of the fruit is $24 for a 20-pound box of grapefruit or oranges. A 20-pound mixed box of oranges and grapefruit is $26.

Fruit can be ordered from any Optimist member or by calling Gary Patterson at 815-875-3767. Orders can also be placed at the Princeton Chamber of Commerce, the Bureau County Senior Center or Kramer’s Kitchen.

All orders must be made by Oct. 30, and the fruit can be picked up at Perry Plaza, behind the Princeton Public Library, on Nov. 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. Special arrangements for pickup or delivery can be made by calling Gary Patterson at 815-875-3767.
