Holiday bake sale

SPRING VALLEY — The Ladies of St. George Church in Spring Valley will hold their annual holiday bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 8. Middle Eastern pastries, Including Baklava, holiday cookies, bread and much more, will be featured.

Breakfast for veterans

PRINCETON — Logan Junior High School in Princeton will honor all area veterans with a breakfast and recognition ceremony on Monday, Nov. 12. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., with the ceremony to follow at 9 a.m. Please enter the school through the Randolph Street entrance.

Veterans Day service in Ladd

LADD — Harold E. Russell Post 938 American Legion in Ladd has announced its Veterans Day services will be at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at War Memorial Park in Ladd. The public and all veterans are invited and encouraged to attend, In the event of rain, the service will be held at the Ladd Community Center.

MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley High School Student Council invites veterans and community members to a Veterans Day program at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the Bureau Valley High School auditorium.

Annual PTO fundraiser

PRINCETON — The annual Princeton Elementary School District 115 pre-kindergarten through fourth grade PTO fall fundraiser is now underway and will continue through Nov. 26. This year’s fundraiser will be a raffle fundraiser. Some of the items include jewelry/accessories, gift cards/certificates, lawn care items, camping items, overnight accommodations, event tickets ... all by way to the top prize of $500. Daily drawings will begin Monday, Dec. 3, to determine prize winners. The daily drawings will also be posted to the PTO’s Facebook page (Princeton Elementary PTO Pk-4th). Dinner and dance for veterans

PRINCETON — The Princeton Moose Lodge will host a dinner dance for veterans on Friday, Nov. 9. The ham dinner is free to all veterans, with serving starting at 5:30 p.m. The regular Friday night fish night is open to everyone from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The Generics will do a tribute to veterans at 6:30 p.m. All U.S. Armed service men and women are invited to attend. Dancing will be from 7 to 10 p.m., with music by the Generics Goodies Band.

Veterans breakfast in LaMoille

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat veterans breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Lions Club, 308 Howard St. in LaMoille. All veterans will eat for free. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham, toast, milk, juice and coffee. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for ages 5-10 and free for kids under 5. There will also be a bake sale. All proceeds will support the LaMoille Lions Club.

Christmas cookie walk

PRINCETON — Bureau County HCE (Home and Community Education) will have its annual Christmas cookie walk from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Prouty Building, 435 S. Main St. in Princeton. Bureau County HCE helps support local youth through school supply donations and is a supporter of the University of Illinois Extension, Bureau County 4-H. The Mission of University of Illinois Extension is to provide practical education you can trust to help people, businesses and communities solve problems, develop skills and build a better future.

ALA members will participate in Veterans Day service

PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct Veterans Day services on Monday, Nov. 12. Those members attending are asked to be at Veterans Park on South Main Street at 10:15 a.m. A memorial wreath will be presented and Unit Chaplain Lydia Foehring will offer a prayer. For information, call Unit President Carol Allicks at 815-872-7891 in the evening.

Open house planned

KEWANEE — Courtyard Village, 860 Sunset Drive, Kewanee, will have an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Participants can enjoy hot cocoa, candy apple bar and sign up for a raffle prize.
