I am 9 years old. Some of my friends tell me that the Christmas story isn’t true. My daddy says the Christmas story is about the baby Jesus, God’s only begotten son, a messenger of light in this dark world, the promised Messiah. Please give me an honest answer, Mr. Editor, in this dark world filled with so many conflicting messages.

Dakota, having been blinded by this scientific technological age, your friends are wrong. Their knowledge has puffed them up with blinding pride! They see so much beauty and miraculous designs in nature but fail to acknowledge the designer. Rejecting the Christmas story, they become gods in their own eyes.
The Heavenly Father gave us the gift of his son restoring mankind to the highest place of dignity. His gift is filled with grace and mercy, forgiveness and redemption.
How dreary is the heart that rejects this precious gift. Those who do so replace God’s laws with man-made laws, God’s sacred gift of marriage and sex with perverted depravity and debauchery, God’s awesome creation with the foolish theory of evolution, godly education with an education void of God’s moral standards, the sacred gift of life with the killing of the innocent by means of abortion.
Dakota, is there evidence for God and his wonderful Christmas story? Yes! Overwhelming evidence! “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood by what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20) The Bible is God’s special revelation. And the good news, the Gospel it contains, is simple enough to be understood by a child as well as a genius.
Christmas is just the beginning of the story, because Jesus didn’t remain a baby. His story progresses to his miracles and his teachings (doctrines), the Golden Rule and his many proclamations of his deity. The story moves to the cross of Calvary and from there to the grave. But the grave didn’t bring the story to an end; it leads us to the Easter story, the story where Jesus rose again. It’s a never-ending story filled with mystery and love for it speaks of his ascension where he joined the Father up above.
The Christmas story is a true masterpiece! It’s a story of miraculous prophesies fulfilled. “The secret things belong to the Lord our God but the things revealed belong to us and to you, our children, forever.” (Deuteronomy 29:29) Some mysteries will remain, but many will be unveiled to those who receive this precious gift!
Everybody lives by faith, either in the theory of evolution or the truth as revealed to us in God’s word. So push aside the curtain of darkness and step into his glorious light, and then “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” and join the “wise men who still seek him.”
