SPRINGFIELD — State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) has been asked to serve as a spokesperson for the Education Committee for the 101st General Assembly.
The 37th District senator has also been named a member of the Higher Education, Insurance, Labor, Licensed Activities and Transportation committees.
The Senate’s standing committees analyze legislation dealing with specific subject areas, such as education, agriculture and transportation. Committees screen legislation introduced by all members and usually, only those bills approved by a committee may be considered by the entire Senate.
Weaver also serves on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, a bipartisan legislative oversight committee authorized to conduct systematic reviews of administrative rules promulgated by State agencies.
The 37th District includes all or part of Bureau, Lee, LaSalle, Knox, Stark, Marshall, Woodford, Mercer, Peoria and Henry counties.
