Dennis Parochetti

SPRING VALLEY — Dennis A. Parochetti, 76, of rural Spring Valley died at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 25, 1943, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley to Marcello and Gladys (Dalzot) Parochetti, he married Karen Sinkevitch at Sacred Heart Church in Granville in 1966.

He served three years in U.S. Navy as a Seabee, conducting his tour of duty in 1964. He was stationed primarily in Bermuda. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer, iron worker and laborer for Ladd Construction. One of his legacies is his son’s farming operation, known as Parochetti Farms.

He was a charter member of the Farmers’ Table at Torri’s, subsequently to the Seatonville Elevator and The Big Apple. He also served as a board member of the Seatonville Elevator.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; five children, Dennis F. (Jean) Parochetti of Hollowayville, Kristine (Andrew Gaylord) Parochetti of Ladd, Daniel (Tammy) Parochetti of Ladd, Michelle (Eric McFadden) Parochetti of Peru and Melissa (Thomas) Hubbard of North Utica; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Parochetti of Falls Church, Va., and Joseph Parochetti of rural Spring Valley.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be directed to the family or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
