PRINCETON — Illinois Valley's Special Response Team was called to Princeton early Friday morning where police quickly surrounded a home on the corner of West Hudson and First streets.

According to a relative of the people involved in the situation, the incident apparently stems from an early morning domestic dispute between a formerly married couple.

The relative, who did not wish to be identified, said the man allegedly confronted his ex-wife with a gun at her home and then barricaded himself in his own home on First Street.

The incident began about 5 a.m. Friday. As of 9:30 a.m. Friday, police were still on the scene.

Princeton Police and Illinois State Police were setting up road blocks around the home.

Police were urging neighbors to stay in their homes.

The story is still developing and will be updated when more information becomes available.
