PRINCETON — Four Bureau County Home and Community Education members attended the 94th annual Illinois Association for Home and Community Education (IAHCE) Conference March 12-14 at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham.
First known as Home Bureau Federation, then Homemakers Extension Association, Home and Community Education, through the years, has changed with the current times, trends or needs. Its goal is to educate members of the community and promote social and economic well-being.
IAHCE continues to cross the boundaries when providing unique and inventive ideas for their lessons, which provide members opportunity to learn current and relevant information. It strives to provide state and county officers important information that allows them to work, support and promote the community in which they serve.
Members attending this year’s conference were able to choose from 25 different lessons. Some were “Meals Around the World,” “Rattle Rattle Bang Bang — How Well Do You Know Your Vehicle?” and “Small Scale Gardening.” Members will bring all this information back to their own counties to share with members who could not attend the conference.
