Sara was born Sept. 6, 1940, the daughter of Howard K. and Marjorie (Shearer) Anderson in Ophiem. She married Kenneth “Kenny” Sierens on Aug. 1, 1959, in Sheffield.

Sara and Kenny farmed for over 50 years in the Mineral and Annawan communities, as well as owned and operated the Mineral Elevator in Mineral and Atkinson for 35 years. She graduated Mineral High School, Class of 1958, and attended AIC Business College in Davenport, Iowa.

She was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, followed her grandchildren’s sporting events, and was a loyal Braves and Bravettes supporter. She was on the Mineral District Library Board and precinct committeeman for Gold Township.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 59 years, Kenny; a son, Troy (Tracy) Sierens of Mineral; a daughter, Wanda (Mike) Lucas of Annawan; seven grandchildren, Joe, Caila, Alexis, Jordyn and Kristin Sierens, and Austin and Hunter Lucas; two great-grandchildren, Haidyn and Ava; a sister, Gay Ann Rahn of Atkinson; and two brothers, Doug (Kathy) Anderson of Creve Cour, Mo., and Gregg (Linda) Anderson of Chatham.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kenny Joe and Jimmy Joe Sierens; and a brother, Arden Anderson.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Mineral United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Kewanee.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkinson Chapel.
