IHSA boys sectionals at a glance:

At Orion (1A)

When: Friday at Orion High School. Field events start at 4 p.m., running events at 5:30 p.m.

Local schools: Amboy/LaMoille, Annawan-Wethersfield, Bureau Valley, Hall, Henry-Midland, Putnam County, St. Bede. Others: AFC, Cambridge, Earlville/Leland, Galva, Indian Creek, HBR, Orion, Princeville, Somonauk, Stark County.

BCR insider: Hall has hit the qualifying standards in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, though senior Ethan Cattani went down with a hamstring in Friday’s TRAC meet. Hall junior sprinter Marshall Walk (100/200) and senior newcomer Devin Soldati (400) have also hit the necessary times so far. BV’s Joe Green has hit the qualifier in both weights as has senior vaulter Kale Barnett. ... St. Bede drops back into 1A after being in 2A for two years.

At Plano (2A)

When: Wednesday at Plano High School. Field events start at 3:45 p.m., running events at 5:30 p.m.

Local schools: Kewanee, L-P, Mendota, Princeton. Others: Coal City, Fairbury Prairie Central, Geneseo, Herscher, Joliet Catholic, Morris, New Lennox Providence, Plano, Pontiac, Sandwich, Streator, Tinley Park.

BCR insider: Princeton gained momentum heading into sectionals coming off its first TRAC championship at home Friday. TRAC champs Conner Workman (LJ/TJ) and Nathan Allen (110 HH) lead the Tiger contingent with Eli Grundman (PV), Kyle Degutis (shot), Grant Foes (discus) and the 4x100 and 4x200 relays in the hunt to qualify for state.

PHS coach Dan Foes says: “We are excited to go to sectionals. We remain optimistic about all our events, especially coming off a great performance at Conference, where we saw 22 personal best or season best. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we have a nice day to compete.”

Note: The top two place-finishers and those who meet the state qualifying standards advance to state next week.
