Cookout in Wyanet
WYANET — The Wyanet Festival will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Wyanet Locker. They will serve ribeyes, butterfly chops, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, pop and water.
Bureau County Chorus will perform on Sunday
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Chorus will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. Some of the musical selections will include a Rock ’n’ Roll medley, “Over the Rainbow,” and “God Bless America.” Guest percussionist Jay Suarez will accompany the choir on djembe (African drum) as the choir sings “Can You Hear.” During the intermission, the Second Story Singers, a newly formed small group choir, will perform a few contemporary pieces. The BCC is accompanied by Charlie Gebeck and directed by Mary Kieffer. A blanket or lawn chair is suggested.
‘Food rescue’ class
OHIO — The Ohio Public Library will host Susan Glassman of the University of Illinois Extension for her class called “Food Rescue” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. This class looks at ways to reduce food waste at home, and includes demonstrations and samples that night to take home. To sign up, stop by the library or call 815-376-5422 by Monday, July 15.
Library program on July 16
PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library will host University of Illinois Extension Program Coordinator Meg Overocker at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16. She will present “What Are the U of I Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Programs, and How Can I Get Involved?” This program is free, and all are welcome to attend.
Car show in Wyanet
WYANET — The Wyanet Summerfest car show will be Saturday, July 13, at the Bureau Valley Grade School in Wyanet. Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m., and the fee is $10. The event will also include dash plaques; awards for top 20, Best in Show (car) and Best in Show (truck); food; and a 50/50 drawing (you need not be present to win). The Wyanet Summerfest parade will be at 1 p.m. Any car/truck wishing to join in the parade is welcome.
The Boat Drunks performance
SPRING VALLEY — The Boat Drunks will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 13, in the Downtown Mini-Park, located in the 100 block of East St. Paul Street, in Spring Valley. Seating is limited; portable chairs are recommended. There will also be food and a beer garden.
Breakfast in LaMoille
LAMOILLE — The LaMoille Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Lions Club, 308 Howard St. in LaMoille. The menu will be pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham, toast, milk, juice and coffee. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 10 and free for kids under 5. All proceeds will support LaMoille High School basketball.

SPRING VALLEY — Spring Valley VFW Post 3666 will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library in Spring Valley. Spring Valley American Legion Post 182 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Angelo’s Restaurant.
