Lynn Filippini

SPRING VALLEY — Lynn L. Filippini, 81, of Spring Valley died at 2:07 a.m. Sunday, June 30, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Sept. 9, 1937, in Peoria to Olinto and Mary (Cioni) Filippini, he married Joann Riva Dec. 29, 1956, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley. She survives.

He was a graduate of Hall High School. He had worked as a bricklayer and was a member of Bricklayers Local 6. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Also surviving are one son, Mike (Joanna) Filippini of Spring Valley; two daughters, Kathy (Joe) Zidow of Peru and Susan (Mark) Covington of Naperville; seven grandchildren, Matthew Zidow of New York, N.Y., Andrew (Lindsey) Zidow of LaSalle, Steven (Olivia) Zidow of Chicago, Lauren (Matt) Tosh of Fenton, Mo., Kyle (Lauren) Covington of Oswego, and Morgan and Maggie Filippini of Spring Valley; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Zidow, Amelia Tosh and Jackson Covington; and three nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise DeSerf.

Private family services will be held.

Memorials may be directed to the OSF St. Francis Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Peoria, Hall High School Athletics or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is handling arrangements.
