PRINCETON — The pigskins will be flying around Princeton Saturday.
Princeton High School welcomes 16 teams for its 7-on-7 tournament, including locals Annawan-Wethersfield, Bureau Valley, Hall and L-P. Both the Tigers and Cavaliers will field two teams.
7-on-7 tournaments are all about passing with the backs and receivers going up against the linebackers and defensive backs.
“The 7-on-7s are great for installing a passing game and getting really good work for your DBs and quarterback that’s hard to replicate in practice,” new Bureau Valley Storm skipper Mat Pistole said.
There will also be a linemen’s challenge as well as five-man teams doing various events, Pistole said.
Other schools participating are Clifton, Durand-Pecatonica, East Peoria, Geneseo, Riverdale, Seneca, Washington, West Carroll and West Central.
Games will start up at 9 a.m, utilizing both Bryant Field and Little Siberia.
