PRINCETON — Donald H. Johnson, 83, of Princeton died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
He was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Princeton, the son of Homer and Darlene (Sanden) Johnson. He married Sharon Vaughn on June 5, 1955, at the First Baptist Church in Manlius. They shared 64 years together. She survives in Princeton.
He graduated from Bureau Township High School with the Class of 1953. He owned and operated Princeton Home Builders for many years.
Don was a trustee for Judson University in Elgin for many years. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Manlius, where he was a deacon, a moderator and a Sunday school teacher. He also was an avid skier, and loved traveling with his wife and family.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lea Anne (George) Roach of Elgin and Jennifer (Stan) Lambert of Selma, Texas; two granddaughters, Kathryn (Timothy) Vosicky of Elmhurst and Jenna Roach of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Smith, and Audrey, Eloise and Isabel Vosicky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Gail Johnson, John B. Johnson and Winifred Collins.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Erickson and the Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.
