Golfers! It is time for the 25th annual golf tournament sponsored by the Spring Valley Walleye Club. It will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, at Spring Creek Golf Course and promises to be great as usual.
The cost is $300 for a four-man team, which includes your golf, a cart, a walleye lunch, and beverage. Beginning tee is 7:30 a.m.
In the past, this has been a great tournament. Any profit will go to the SVWC to help with their expenses.
Get your partners lined up and get your team signed up right away. You can do this by emailing Bill Guerrini at firstname.lastname@example.org or visiting their website at www.spring-valley-walleye.org.
• It is also time to get a hunters’ safety course done if you haven’t done so already, especially if you want your son or daughter to accompany you this year. The course will be held at the Chillicothe Sportsman’s Club Aug. 8-10.
Course times are 6 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, and Friday, Aug. 9, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Each candidate must attend all sessions. For more information or to register, call Lowell Bennett at 309-274-5586. Don’t pass this up.
• If you want to deer hunt on private land, applications can be found online at www.dnr.illinois.gov/conservation/IRAP/pages/Archery-Deer-Hunting.aspx.
• Also, fishing in the canal and strip mines has also picked up. Get out to fish and take your kids with you.
