MCNABB — The 61st annual Illinois Valley Women’s Golf Invitational was canceled Sunday due to rain and rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 25, at Edgewood Park Golf Club in McNabb.
The rain hit just before 8:30 a.m. tee offs and continued before the event was canceled mid morning.
“The ladies wanted to see if we could wait it out, but finally at 10:30 we made the decision to postpone it and a majority agreed to switch it to the 25th,” tournament director Connie Casford of Edgewood said. “It was unfortunate, but nothing we could do about Mother Nature.”
Casford said all but four of the women signed up plan to make the return date.
Interested golfers may sign up for the new day by contacting Edgewood at 815-882-2317. The entry fee is $55, which includes a practice round and tournament green fees, tournament cart fee and lunch. Checks made payable to Edgewood Park may be mailed to Edgewood Park/IVWGI, 3269 IL Highway 89, McNabb, IL 61355.
