SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Edna Faye Moore, 89, of Sheridan passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at Green House Living of Sheridan.
Edna was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Moundville, Mo., to Henry Earl and Josephine Demandy (Elliott) Sipes.
Edna grew up in a large family that included one older half brother and sister, one older brother and five younger sisters; together they enjoyed playing music, singing and big family gatherings.
On Dec. 26, 1948, Edna married Jene P. Moore in Mineral and together they had two daughters and one son. Edna ran a beauty shop out of her home in Sheffield, and enjoyed socializing with her friends and neighbors as she worked.
Edna spent many years teaching Sunday school and greatly enjoyed gospel music. In addition to being an excellent cook, Edna loved to play cards. She was especially fond of playing bridge both in Illinois and in Sheridan, and was a member of several bridge clubs in her lifetime.
In 1971, Edna and Jene moved to Sheridan, Wyo., and Jene became employed by Decker Coal Company.
Edna and Jene enjoyed the mountains and traveling. They took many trips over the years, most of which involved visiting family along the way. They were married 67 years before Jene passed away in 2015.
In addition to her husband, Jene, Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her half brother, Jake; her half sister, Margie; a brother, Glenn; and four sisters, Lois, Jenny, Shirley and Dauphine.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy; her children, Jena (Tom) Atkinson of Sheffield, Sandy (Bryan) Turpin of Henry and Brent (Dia) Moore of Sheridan, Wyo.; along with many extended family, including nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
It was the wish of both Edna and Jene to share a service celebrating their lives together.
