Lions stuff their plates at AFC Thanksgiving Tournament

The LaMoille-Ohio Lions continued to feast at the Ashton Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament, defeating Amboy 76-42 Tuesday.
Marcus Winn scored 26 points with six assists and Chasen Cherry added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions, who improved to 2-0. L-O plays Polo Friday at 7:30.
Elmwood 52, Bureau Valley 47: The Trojans outscored the Storm 23-14 in the second quarter on the way to victory in tournament play at the Wally Keller Invite Tuesday at Wethersfield.
Dalton Dean led the Storm with 23 points and Carter Salisbury added 12.
BV played Stark County Friday.
Flanagan-Cornell 55, St. Bede 47: Paul Hart had 14 points and Gunner Jauch eight for the Bruins in defeat Tuesday in the Route 17 Tournament at Streator Woodland.
St. Bede fell to Ridgeview 61-38 Wednesday. Hart had 13 points.
The Bruins will play Grant Park at 5:30 p.m. Saturday for fifth place.
High school girls
Annawan 69, St. Bede 36: The Bravettes got a jump-start on the Lady Bruins with a 27-10 first quarter advantage as part of the Geneseo Thanksgiving Tournament Tuesday at Annawan.
Annawan was carried by the trio of Emily Miller (24), Keegan Rico (17) and Ella Manuel (14).
St. Bede was led by Leah Smudzinski (8) and Christine Senica (7).
LaMoille-Ohio 48, DePue 15: The Lady Lions won their home opener and first game of the year, defeating the Lady Giants Tuesday at LaMoille.
Leading scorer for LaMoille-Ohio was Kylee Brown with 16 points, while Ki’Ayana Moore chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Leading scorer for DePue was Summer Hayes with six followed by Cayley Harrison with five.
Wrestling
At Princeton: The Tigers welcomed St. Bede, Peoria Notre Dame and Tremont to kick off the season on the Prouty Gym mats Tuesday night.
St. Bede beat PHS 54-17, winning eight of the nine matches. The Bruins lost to Tremont 62-12 and Notre Dame 38-33 with Nick Lough winning three matches on the night and Beau Bonnell two.
The Tigers also fell to Tremont 60-18 and Notre Dame 48-20. Matthew Harris won three matches, including a forfeit, and Jimmy Kurth won two.
