TISKILWA — James J. Flaherty, 61, a lifelong resident of Tiskilwa, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Aperion Care in Princeton.
He was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Princeton, the son of Francis and Jane (Miller) Flaherty.
He graduated from Tiskilwa High School with the Class of 1977. He was a member of the Central Laborer Union. Prior to joining the union, he worked as a supply and accounting analyst of the U.S. Navy and served in Desert Storm.
He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiskilwa.
Survivors include one sister, Norine Flaherty of Chicago; two brothers, Robert (Sue) Flaherty of Osprey, Fla., and Dr. Joseph Flaherty of Miami Beach, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Martha Flaherty of Princeton; and three nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert.
Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiskilwa with Father Daniel Gifford and Deacon John Murphy officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tiskilwa, with military rites accorded by the Princeton Veterans Group.
Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 13, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton.
