Pleasant St., Princeton, died at 11:57 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Hodgenville, Ky., to John William and Lura Bessie (Dye) Dixon, he married Veronica C. Taylor Dixon July 1, 1945, in St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. She died Dec. 12, 2006. He worked at LCN in Princeton for 31 years, retiring in 1982. In retirement, he worked as a security agent for Champion A Gardner Denver Co. in Princeton. He served in the U.S. Army’s “Ghost Brigade” during World War II. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, the VFW Post 4323 and American Legion Post 125. Survivors include four children, Thomas (Vicky) Dixon of Tiskilwa, Valerie (John) Keener of Princeton, Mark Dixon of Wyanet, John (Cindy) Dixon of Hennepin; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Dixon, Angela (Brian) Rosenski, Kate Robinson, Scott Dixon, Rebecca Keener, Tara (Jason) Dockins, John (Molly) Keener III, Thomas (Tracy) Derick, Amanda (Brian) Schouteet, Dustin (Lacy) Landwehr, Dwayne Libby, and Jacob Bivins; six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews His parents and two sisters, Eddie Mildred Pottinger and Martha E. Poffenberger, also preceded him in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church Princeton, Father Jeffery Stirniman officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Princeton Ambulance service or St. Louis Catholic Church. |
