
Community CalendarCommunity coffee SHEFFIELD — The First United Church of Christ in Sheffield will host its monthly community coffee from 7 to 10 a.m. May 5, in the UCC Parish Hall. Fresh-baked cinnamon rolls will be served. ‘Movie at the Mansion’ LASALLE — This month’s Movie at the Mansion is the 1948 “Easter Parade,” starring Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Peter Lawford and Ann Miller. The event will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hegeler Carus Mansion, 1307 Seventh St., LaSalle. The movie is free to the public. Popcorn and pop will be available. Meeting set TAMPICO — The Tampico Community Club will meet at 2 p.m. May 3 in the Tampico Community Building. Poppy workshop PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct its poppy workshop at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the post home. All members are asked to attend this workshop to prepare the envelopes for mailing. Healthcare expo PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton will host a “Reflections of Change in Women’s Healthcare” expo from 1 to 4 p.m. May 6 at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton. This event is free for women of all ages. Kathy O’Malley from WGN Radio will kick off the event. Screenings planned PRINCETON — The Princeton Elementary School District 115 Early Beginnings Program will offer developmental screenings for children ages 4 months to 3 years on Monday at Douglas School. Appointments can be made by calling (815) 875-6075. Cookout set WYANET — The Wyanet Rescue Unit will hold a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wyanet Locker. The menu will include rib eyes, butterfly chops, brats, pork burgers, hot dogs, chips and soda. Quilt Guild meeting PRINCETON — The Covered Bridge Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. May 4 at Harkrader Hall at St. Louis Church in Princeton. The month’s activity is Challenge Night. The guest fee for the evening is $2. Alumni banquet KEWANEE — The annual St. Francis School of Nursing (Kewanee) alumni banquet will be at noon Monday at Johnson Lake State Park Restaurant, located on Route 78 between Kewanee and Annawan. The classes of 1947 and 1957 will be honored. Educational program LASALLE — A free educational program sponsored by the Illinois Valley Area Multiple Sclerosis Support Group will be from 10 a.m. to noon May 5 at the Midwest Center in LaSalle.
