CARLINVILLE — Katie Engelman, the daughter of Debora Engelman of Spring Valley, has been awarded the Honor Scholarship at Blackburn College in Carlinville.

The scholarship is awarded to entering first-time freshmen that have ranked in the top 50 percent in their high school class. Recipients must either graduate in the top 10 percent of their class, score at least a 24 on the ACT or 1050 on the SAT or have a 3.3 grade point average in their college preparatory classes. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years.
