Robert Morris

PRINCETON — Robert L. Morris, 76, of 1562 Backbone Road, Princeton, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born March 16, 1931, in Wyanet to Timothy and Ethel (Pierce) Morris, he married Faith Joanne Fletcher Sept. 25, 1953 in Joplin, Mo. She survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving 13 months in Korea. He had raised and trained harness horses, and had owned and operated Hidden Lake Country club for several years. He was part owner of the Cherry Supper Club.

He was a member of Wyanet VFW Post 6634 and the Illinois Harness Horse Racing Association.

Also surviving are one daughter, Bambi (Thomas) Wells of Live Oak, Fla.; one son, Tony (Margo) Morris of Princeton; two sisters, Ola Mae Zebdon of Berwyn and Dorothy Farley of Peoria; one brother, Marlin Morris of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Wells, Robert Wells, Eric Morris and Leslie Grotti; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Raymond, Gib and Clifford.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with Pastor Mark Manning officiating. Burial, with military rites conducted, will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, in the funeral home.
