Number of years in business: Bureau Valley Vision Care will celebrate its 10th year with an open house July 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friends, patients and new faces are invited for refreshments, door prizes and tours of the facility. Give some history about the business: A Princeton native, Dr. McCutchan graduated from Princeton High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois, and a Doctorate degree in Optometry from Indiana University. Bureau Valley VisionCare began in July 1997 in a 1,500-square-foot office at 314 Backbone Road. Sue Frank was the first assistant. Kendra Walters joined the office in 1998, and Stefanie Socha in 2002. In May 2004, Bureau Valley Vision Care moved into its present 3,000-square-foot facility at 200 Ace Road. Technologies integrated along the way have been automated visual fields (1998), computer based business records (12001), Eyemaginations chairside patient education software (2002), computerized visual acuity charts (2003), ultrasounds corneal pachymetry (2004), corneal refractive therapy (2004), Heidelberg Retinal Tomography (2005), digital retinal photography (2005), corneal topography (2006), and computer-assisted vision therapy (2007). How does the business give back to or reach out into the community: Dr. McCutchan has been an active member of the Princeton Jaycees since 1996, serving as president for two years. He currently is co-chair of the Jaycees Fireworks Committee for Princeton’s Fourth of July Fireworks Display. He also is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton, the Prairie Arts Council, the Princeton Chamber of Commerce since 1998, and has been in the Princeton Chamber Ambassadors since 2005. Bureau Valley VisionCare has sponsored a team in the Princeton Youth Soccer League since 2003, and has contributed monetary and/or material support to numerous other local organizations and causes. Dr. McCutchan is a member of the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (participated in medical mission to Cassablanca, Mexico, in 2004), Illinois Valley Optometric Society (currently serving as president), Illinois Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Bureau Valley VisionCare has participated in AOA’s “VisionCare” program since 1997, providing free eye care to qualifying low-income workers, and in the AOA’s new “InfantSEE” program, providing free eye exams to any infant age 6-12 months. Bureau Valley VisionCare also works with local Lions Clubs, providing reduced fee services and eye wear to patients in need. Future plans for the business: We look forward to implementing electronic medical records, equipping a third exam room, and continuing to build positive relationships with our patients. |
