Flea market set

PRINCETON — A flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Bureau County Fairgrounds as part of this year’s Homestead Festival. All types of items will be sold, from new to used to antiques and collectibles. There will be something for the whole family. Admission is $1 for adults and kids are free. A concession stand will also be open with breakfast and lunch items. For more information, call (815) 875-2606.

Cub Scout sign-up

PRINCETON — Princeton boys in grades 1-5 are invited to sign up for Princeton Cub Scouts from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, in the basement of Hampshire Colony Church in Princeton.

Helicopter rides

PRINCETON — Helicopter rides over Princeton will be available from 11 a.m. to dusk Saturday, sponsored by Edward Jones. Rides will be $30 per person, cash only, with $5 for each ride going to the Homestead Festival. The rides will leave from the southwest corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot and last about five minutes.

Raikes family reunion

UTICA — Descendants of James Monroe and Phoebe (Bailey) Raikes will hold their 53rd annual family reunion Sunday at Starved Rock State Park in Utica. A potluck picnic will begin at noon followed by children’s games, bingo and raffles. Family members are reminded to bring old photos, memorabilia and family history items to be recorded. Meeting scheduled

OTTAWA — PADS, a local homeless shelter, will have its monthly Board of Directors meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ottawa PADS shelter, 1120 Canal St. The public is invited. For information, call Mary Jo Freeman, secretary, at (815) 252-2240.

Open house

OHIO — The Ohio PTO will sponsor an open house from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. All parents are encouraged to meet the teachers, classes and principal.

Bone marrow drive

OGLESBY — Illinois Valley Community College and the American Red Cross will host a blood and bone marrow drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the IVCC lower gym. Persons interested in donating are encouraged to sign up in the IVCC front lobby from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 17, 18, or 19. Those wishing to make an appointment after this time must go to the nursing office, located in Room A-214A. All presenting donors will receive a Red Cross T-shirt.
