Bridge and lunch

PRINCETON — Area seniors are invited to join the Senior Bridge and Lunch Club for a little bridge, lunch and a lot of fun. The group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 15, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17 in Shoemake Hall at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton. Lunch will be provided for a small donation. To reserve a spot, call the Metro Center at (815) 872-0840.

Open house

PRINCETON — A retirement open house for Danny Sissel, an officer with the Princeton Police Department, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Wine Cellar, formerly the Oak Room, at 432 S. Main St., Princeton. The facility is handicapped accessible.

Bluegrass jam

PRINCETON — Area people have joined to start a bluegrass, gospel and country music jam at the First Christian Church. The jam will begin Oct. 19 and continue every third Friday of each month from 6 to 10 p.m. Players and listeners are welcome. Come for some good old-fashioned fun. Rummage items

PERU — St. Bede Academy is asking that no more rummage sale donations be taken to the Academy until after Nov. 18. The ladies are currently prepared for the annual St. Bede rummage sale, which is set for Oct. 25 and 26.

Bazaar and auction

CHILLICOTHE — The Tri-City Women’s Connection will host its annual Bountiful Bazaar and Auction Oct. 16 at the Chillicothe Public Library beginning with a bake sale at noon. A lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. followed by the auction. The speaker for the afternoon will be Laura Seddon of St. Peters, Mo., who talk will be “Take me out to the ballgame.” Child care will be by reservation only. Reservations, which are due by Oct. 12, can be made by calling Elaine at (309) 274-4563 or Herta at (309) 364-3484. Those unable to attend are asked to cancel reservations.

Garden club meeting

TISKILWA — The Garden Friends Garden Club will have floral designer Jim Behrens of Behrens Flower Shed in Rock Falls at its Oct. 11 meeting, set for 6 p.m. in the Tiskilwa Baptist Church basement. The arrangements he designs during the evening will be for sale. A raffle will also be held the winner will go home with one of his designs. The public is invited to attend this free program. Refreshments will be served.

Flea market

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Fair flea market that is usually held on the second Sunday of the month will be held one week earlier in October. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Princeton. Spaces are now being reserved for a holiday craft show and flea market on Dec. 9 at the fairgrounds.
