Kunkel and Swanlund represent PHS
PRINCETON — Seniors Ada Kunkel and Tyler Swanlund were named the Elks Teen of the Month representatives for the month of October. The Teen of the Month program is sponsored by the Princeton Elks Lodge 1461. The two PHS students, along with representatives from all Bureau County high schools and their parents, were honored at a luncheon Oct. 19 at the Elks Lodge. Kunkel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kunkel. In addition to excelling at Princeton High School, academically, she is active in the PHS Band and Choir where she serves as librarian for each organization. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council and she has participated in every school play and musical throughout high school. She has contributed volunteer hours all through high school to community activities such as Mobile Meals and Big Brother/Big Sister. She plans to attend a four-year university to major in music. Swanlund is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Swanlund. He has been on high honor roll throughout high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is active in the instrumental music department at PHS, and presently holds the office of treasurer for the PHS Band. He is the Student Council treasurer, also. He has participated in all school plays and musicals during high school, and has received Thespian awards. He has spent many hours volunteering for the Homestead Festival plays and several other worthy causes. He plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Illinois and eventually pursue a career in accounting or project management. |
