At Monday’s Princeton City Council meeting, Princeton Mayor Keith Cain announced Jeff Fiegenschuh, of Sac City, Iowa, has accepted the city manager position. Fiegenschuh, a graduate of the University of Nebraska in Omaha, and Wayne State College, in Wayne, Neb., is expected to start his new position on Jan. 7. His wife and three children will move to Princeton at the end of the school year, Cain said. “With the holidays coming up, I didn’t feel we should expect anyone to move until the first of the year,” Cain said. Fiegenschuh was chosen from a field of nearly 40 candidates. The Princeton City Council interviewed the top five city manager candidates on Friday, with the top two candidates called back for second interviews. Cain said Fiegenschuh is aggressive and knowledgeable of the same departments and services as Princeton’s. He also has experience as a city manager. The council was unanimous in its choice of Fiegenschuh, the mayor said. Princeton City Clerk Clyde Wray said the council is expected to formally appoint the new city manager at the council’s Dec. 3 meeting. Fiegenschuh’s signed agreement with the city was received late Monday afternoon at city hall. The Princeton City Council worked with The Parr Group consulting firm in its city manager search. The Parr Group, out of Lake Bluff, screened nearly 40 resumes before presenting the top 12 resumes to the city council. The council then worked with the consulting firm in narrowing that field of 12 to the five candidates who came to Princeton for Friday’s interviews. The city manager position was advertised with a $95,000 salary, dependent upon qualifications of the individual. The new city manager replaces Andrew Brannen who resigned in June to take a township manager position in Ocean Township, N.J. Brannen, who was chosen from a field of 43 candidates, came to Princeton in 2002 as Princeton’s first city manager. Comment on this story at www.bcrnews.com. |
