PRINCETON — A new doctor has joined the Princeton Family Physicians Group at Perry Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Jennifer Taylor received her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana. She completed her residency in family medicine with training in obstetrics and gynecology at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Taylor, who now lives in Peru, said she has a special interest in women’s health.

“I’m looking for some OB patients. I love taking care of pregnant women and doing deliveries. Also, I’m trained and interested in doing (outpatient gynecological) surgeries,” she said.

“I like the opportunity to be able to practice family medicine but still be able to do C-sections, and doing the deliveries as well. That’s what this opportunity will allow me to do,” she added.

She arrived at the hospital Nov. 5 and is currently accepting patients. Taylor said she has a 14-year-old daughter attending St. Bede Academy and has spent a lot of her time attending her daughter’s basketball games.

Taylor said she chose to take the job at Perry Memorial Hospital because she’s made a commitment to serve the under-served.

“I had a scholarship at the University of Illinois, and so in exchange for my scholarship, I made a commitment to take care of people who can’t pay or who have Medicare, Medicaid,” she said.

“I don’t care what kind of insurance people have ... because that’s what I’m dedicated to, is taking care of people who maybe don’t have the same financial resources as other people, but they still deserve a good doctor. That’s what I’m here for,” she added.
