Born Aug. 19, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., to Earl and Pearl (Knight) Klett, he married Marguerite Clason Oct. 7, 1950, in the First Presbyterian Church in Flint, Mich. She survives. He graduated from Flint Central High School in Michigan in 1944. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on an LST as a radio tech. After his military service, he attended Tri-State University in Angola, Ind., graduating in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in radio engineering. He was a production manager for LCN, retiring after 25 years. He was a member of the Princeton Public Library Board for 25 years, serving as treasurer for most of that time. He was also a board member for the Covenant Children’s Home. He was a past president of the Princeton Chamber of Commerce, Princeton Public Schools Foundation and Princeton Lovejoy Homestead. He was also a member of Bureau Valley Country Club and volunteer at Bureau County Historical Society. In 1973, he was honored as “King Dad,” based on essays written by his children. Also surviving are four children, Kristi (Larry) Jetzer of Minnesota, Jeff Klett and Karen Klett, both of Hawaii, and Kim Walter of Princeton; one brother, Jack (Anne) Klett of Michigan; and one brother-in-law, Ray Clason of Nevada; one grandson, Kristian Jetzer of Minnesota; one niece, Lorna McKay of Nevada; and three nephews, Bill (Sandra) Klett of Georgia, Mark (Keri) Klett of Michigan and R.J. Clason of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Earl Klett; one sister-in-law, Carol Clason; and one nephew, John Klett. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Princeton, with Pastor Chuck Wahlstrom officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton. Memorials may be directed to the Princeton Public Library Building Fund. |
