Douglas MillerPRINCETON — Douglas E. Miller, 57, of 646 Jacqueline Lane, Princeton, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1950, in Zanesville, Ohio. to Clayton and Carol (Rhodes) Miller. He was married for 20 years to Master Sgt. Dorothy L. “Dottie” Miller (retired), who preceded him in death. He was a 1969 graduate of John Glenn High School in New Concord, Ohio. In 1970 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from which he retired in 1998. During his military service, CMSGT Miller completed tours in Thailand (during Vietnam), Operation Desert Storm, and Afghanistan. His military expertise was in security management. As a civilian, he was the 911 director of BUE Comm and 911 president of I-NENA. He also held positions as a security officer, police captain, and deputy sheriff. Most recently he received his bachelor’s degree in emergency management from Jacksonville State University. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an avid boater and president of the Henry Marina Yacht Club in Henry. Survivors include two brothers; Dennis (Cindy Creeks) Miller of Zanesville, Ohio, and Andrew (Tina) Miller of Reinersville, Ohio; two sisters; Deborah (Robert) Gray of Cambridge, Ohio, and Carrie (James) Price of Ashville, Ohio; two aunts Rita A. Wells of Ohio, Josephine Snider of Ohio; one uncle, N. Edward Miller of Ohio and many nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded and private funeral service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Norberg Memorial Home, In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Ronald McDonald House.
