We don't need any change

I overheard my friend Mr. Durbin saying that one of our presidential candidates would just carry on the “Bush economic policy.” How about the years from 2001-2007, when thousands of our citizens became millionaires in the stock market? I didn’t hear Mr. Durbin call it the “Bush economic policy” then.

In the last four years, our economy has gone from No. 6 in the world to No. 1. And although the media predicts all kinds of “gloom and doom,” we remain No. 1. Didn’t hear Mr. Durbin call it the “Bush economic policy” then, either.

In December, we recorded the 52nd straight month of job growth. This is the longest continuous months of job growth on record. Wasn’t that “Bush’s economic policy” too?

A couple of our presidential candidates are campaigning on the idea of, “We need change.” If you want change — go to Africa.

You want change? Go to Cambodia or Vietnam.

You want change? Go to Laos or Pakistan or Afghanistan or almost anywhere.

During my lifetime, I was fortunate enough to spend time in Vietnam. I also stayed a few nights in Cambodia and Laos. I spent a week or more in Thailand and a week in Australia. Plus many trips to Canada. Know what?

We don’t need “any” change. We are the U.S.A. We are No. 1. Always!
