Bureau Valley committees on transportation, finance

MANLIUS — The Transportation and Finance committees of the Bureau Valley Board of Education met on April 10 in the district office in Manlius.

Committee members Keith Bolin, Kent Siltman and Roger Craine met with Transportation Director Tom Mott and Superintendent Terry Gutshall to review Pre-K transportation and costs, district fuel costs and bus usage. Committee member Myron Rumbold was absent.

The same members serve on the Finance Committee and discussed the Walnut Ridge Wind Farm as it relates to property in the Bureau Valley District. The committee received information from recent zoning meetings that did not recommend a text amendment on wind farms, a position also supported by the board of education. The board of education is in support of existing zoning as it relates to the project and supports the development of the wind farm and the resulting increased property values for the district.
