Scott announces resignationBy Donna Barkerdbarker@bcrnews.comPRINCETON — Princeton’s Superintendent of Water Treatment Mike Scott has announced his resignation, effective last Friday. On Tuesday, Mayor Keith Cain confirmed Scott’s retirement, stating he (Scott) was retiring to go on a permanent disability medical leave. He is no longer an employee of the city of Princeton, the mayor said. Cain expressed his appreciation for the years of service Scott has given to the city. “I wish Mike well in his retirement,” Cain said. “He’s done a good job for the city.” As far as Scott’s replacement, Cain said the city is in the process of making that decision and will make the job offer within the water department. On Tuesday, City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh said a job offer has been made and accepted, but he would not announce Scott’s replacement until Monday’s city council meeting. Fiegenschuh also joined the mayor in wishing Scott the best in the future. Scott started work at Princeton Water Treatment Department in 1984 and became Superintendent of the Water Treatment Plant in 1988. “I’ve definitely enjoyed my time working with the city. It was everything I had envisioned when I got into it,” Scott said Wednesday afternoon. “I’m sorry I can’t continue because of my medical condition and that I need to step down at this time. Everything is in place in the department for things to continue smoothly.” Comment on this story at www.bcrnews.com. |
