Boys State attendees

BRADFORD — Jim Code, Bill Robbins and Galen Holland are attending Boys State this week, June 8-13, at Eastern Illinois University.

Boys State is a seven-day hands-on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government. The program allows the students to learn about their government through participation in activities, which include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies and seminars.

Code, the son of Brian and Sherri Code, is sponsored by the Bradford American Legion. He is a junior at Stark County and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a member of the Stark County High School baseball team, served as president of the junior class and is the ESPN sports reporter for his high school.

Robbins, the son of Ron and Mary Robbins, is sponsored by the Bradford Banking Center of People’s National Bank of Kewanee. He is a junior at Bureau Valley High School and a member of the National Honor Society. He has participated in both track and football throughout high school, having received awards in both sports.

Holland, the son of Dennis and Linda Holland, is sponsored by the Bradford Lions Club. He is a junior at Bureau Valley High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of Boy Scouts, his church youth group, the Drama Club, the Spanish Club and participated in all of the plays and musicals at Bureau Valley High School while he has been in attendance there.
